There are many different teeth whitening products available to purchase these days. Toothpastes, strips, gel, bleaching kits; all are designed to give you that perfect white smile. But do these products really work?
Understanding Teeth Whitening
There is a lot of pressure to look good in today's society. From perfect skin and glossy hair to well kept nails and perfect white teeth; today's woman has a lot to think about when it comes to looking good. Unfortunately with most people's lifestyle, smoking and drinking coffee is a regular occurrence. Both of which can have seriously negative effects on the teeth. Staining is a common problem and that is why there are so many teeth whitening products available on the market.
Each different product has the same goal - to whiten the teeth. However, they work in completely different ways. Some are easier than others, as well as being more cost effective. However, do the cheaper products really work or do you have to splash out to feel the benefits?
The Different Teeth Whitening Products Available
There are hundreds of teeth whitening products available and the most popular tend to include:
• Toothpaste
• Bleaching Kits
• Strips
• Gel
There are so many different whitening toothpastes available. Designed to be used just like ordinary toothpaste, most whitening toothpastes are cheap and incredibly easy to use. However, the results are not always that great with toothpaste. They are mainly suitable for mild staining problems and once you stop using the toothpaste the staining usually comes back. However, there is some whitening toothpastes which many people swear by so you may be able to find a good one if you shop around.
If your staining problem is slightly more severe then you may want to consider using a home bleaching kit. These kits include a gum guard, a bleaching solution, protective gloves and a whitening guide. The guide will give you some idea about the results that you should expect. The gum guard will protect the gums against the bleach and the gloves will protect the hands. Not all kits will come with gloves but typically most do. You are usually required to leave the solution on for a certain time period and then it should be washed off. It is worth noting that bleaching kits usually need to be repeated several times before you gain the desired results.
Gel is similar to bleaching kits only you are provided with a whitening gel, a gum guard and a light to shine onto the gel. The light works together with the gel and it speeds up results. Again, you will usually need to apply the gel several times over a month period to notice the results that you want.
Out of all of the whitening products available, bleaching kits and gels do tend to be the most effective. You can purchase store bleaching kits or you can get specialized ones created by a dentist. Obviously the dentist kits will be better to use, but they will also be much pricier too! If you are worried about the whiteness of your teeth then teeth whitening products may be able to help.
